I likely don't have to explain Monk to anyone who reads this blog. This is a very late performance, and there's all kinda subtle stuff that points to how Monk was evolving his compositions up to his very last performances. "Crepescule With Nellie" is one of the great love songs ever, and he invariably invested it with a kind of exploratory freshness. Probably why he's one of the most satisying musicians ever.
